Sowing Time
- February – April
Flowering Time
- June – September
Sowing Indoors
- Almost fill a seed tray with moist seed compost
- Sow seeds thinly over the surface, and lightly cover them with a little more compost
- Place in the warmth 15-20°C (60-70°F), and keep moist
- Cleome seeds will not germinate well at lower temperatures
Growing On
- Keep seedlings in a light position, but shade from direct sunlight
- When large enough to handle, transplant 5cm (2in) apart into trays of potting compost
Hardening Off/Planting Out
- Indoor sowing only
- Keep seedlings shaded from bright sunlight
- Gradually accustom to outdoor conditions 2-3 weeks before planting out
- Avoid frosts
- Plant out 45cm (18in) apart
