MIX INTO EXISTING SOIL
Spread 3”of Raised Bed & Vegetable Soil across the existing soil in your border. Mix through the top 6-8”of native soil and level off.
CREATE A NEW RAISED BED
Our 3 layer plan provides the optimum drainage, nutrients and moisture retention:
- Begin with a 2-3” layer of wood or bark chips to maximise drainage.
- Then add a 2-3” layer of farmyard manure for extra nutrients.
- Finally fill the bed up with Raised Bed & Vegetable Soil to create a fertile, free draining growing area.

How to Grow Flowers in Planting Soil
Growing flowers in planting soils is simple with Westland Soil Improver. It is brilliant for growing flowers, trees and shrubs in. This enriched mix enhances soil structure, fertility, and drainage, creating a solid foundation for healthy, vibrant plants.
For those with heavy clay or sandy soils, Westland Soil Improver is particularly beneficial. In clay soils, it breaks up compacted particles, allowing roots to penetrate more easily and improving water drainage. How to Plant out Roses, Trees or Shrubs
- Dig a hole twice the depth and diameter of the root ball.
- Mix 1 part soil improver with 5 parts soil, such as Top Soil, and add to the hole.
- Place the plant in the hole, fill gaps with compost, firm down, and water.

Creating new beds & borders
- Spread 3 inches of top soil across the existing native soil in you border.
- Mix through the top 6-8 inches of native soil and level off.

- Apply top soil into the sunken area
- Fork in with existing soil to desired border level

- Mix 50:50 with garden soil
