You don’t need a large garden or allotment to enjoy homegrown fruit and vegetables. Nearly all veg can be grown in pots and containers with a little imagination.

Here are top suggestions on the easiest fruit and veg to try to get you started:

1. Carrots

The best way to grow strawberries is to use cold-stored crowns or freshly-lifted crowns.  Fresh crowns need to be planted in October, whilst cold-stored crowns should be planted in February.  These will provide a small crop of fruit 60 days later, and a full crop the following year.  There are several different varieties available such as Honeoye (early), Elsanta (main ), or Symphony (late)
