I can't get anything to grow under the trees in our garden, can you help?

You need to choose a lawn seed mixture that is composed of grass species more tolerant to these conditions. Shade Tolerant Lawn Seed has been specially mixed to grow in those difficult places under trees or in shade. It contains a balanced mix of fine grasses such as fescues, together with tough and resilient dwarf ryegrass species, to create a lawn that not only tolerates shade and drought, but also will thrive where other grass fails to grow. Don't forget though that it is important to stop your trees and the grass from competing for the same moisture and nutrients. It is better to allow each tree an area of at least 1m diameter around the base where the grass does not grow. Apply a granular feed to this area and cover over when the soil is wet, with a suitable mulch.
