What could I be doing in my garden in April and May?

Spring is the most exciting time in the garden. The clocks have changed, the light evenings are getting longer and gardeners across the land are out in force, sowing, growing and gardening. It’s a totally addictive and very therapeutic hobby.

Even though we’ve had a few days of icy cold weather, plant growth has already started in earnest and this growth will need supporting with plant food to ensure it continues.

April and May are important months in the garden. As the borders spring to life it’s a great time to fill in those gaps before it becomes difficult to reach them. It’s a good time to plant, the soil is warming up, the spring rains have moistened it and the plant roots can establish very quickly.
It’s also a good time to be sowing seeds, taking cuttings and making the most of the spring surge into growth.

Once spring is in full throttle it can overtake everything, when the weather is right there is so much to achieve and create that there barely seems time to keep up.
