Seasonal Tips for Feb & Mar - Water Gardening

Ponds and water features add a whole new dimension to the garden. Water attracts a wide variety of wildlife to the garden and provides a vital source of water. It also provides the correct environment for a range of water dwelling plants, bog plants and marginals that can add vital interest to the garden.

  • February and March are a bit too early to start transplanting water plants but it is the ideal time to plant around the outside edge of the pond. Use Aquatic Compost, even in the borders around the pond, as it is designed to hold its fertiliser content to reduce the build-up of algae in the pond.
